What I'm Reading These Days...

Thunder Head
by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child

I just finished this the other night, and I have to say that I LOVED it. If you are a fan of suspense/thriller/mystery novels, but feel like you've read every possible story line, you should definitely try one of Preston/Child's books.

This one in particular is about an archaeological expedition in Utah. It intertwines modern day mysteries with ancient horrors. It's quite a long book, over 500 pages, but it is a very quick read. I loved reading about archaeologist Nora Kelly's attempt to discover the ancient city of Quivira, and her struggles with something dark as she did so. I would definitely recommend this book to the mystery reader.

What I'm Reading to the Kids These Days...

Sadie and the Snowman
by Allen Morgan
Illustrated by Brenda Clark

What a perfect winter book. Through a winter, a little girl, Sadie makes snowman after snowman, each time adorning his face with food which is eaten by the nearby animals. Eventually, it just gets too hot for Sadie's snowmen to survive. She comes up with a plan, though, and her snowman is never far from her. Very cute, simple little tale.
